The phrase “never give up” might sound cliché, but it’s never been more true. If you love something, stick with it. Tattoo NEVER GIVE UP across your mind in bold block letters. I’ve lost count of the number of times I nearly threw in the towel—on writing, on music—only to lie to myself and keep going. And I’m glad I did.

So, without sounding preachy (okay, maybe a little): Don’t give up. Write it on Post-its. Stick them on your mirror (yes, I know you check it), your fridge, even the spot where you always lose your keys. Keep going. You never know when your song will finally be heard.
